New to Vex IQ and needed to know how to modify the Clawbot to allow for the pick up and stacking of pins in Mix and Match. You help would be greatly appreciated.

I would recommend students starting with the Hero Bot, Huey, for Mix & Match if possible. It has some interesting claw and lift components that I think are a good example for students to get started with.
Then you can use the Competition 101: VIQRC Mix & Match STEM Lab to help your students get up and running with this year’s competition.
One of the big emphases in the VIQRC games is always student-centered. There’s a lot of different ways those policies apply – this article from the RECF does a good job explaining some scenarios. Just be sure that you, as the coach, are cognizant that you’re mentoring students but not giving them a specific answer. Like for your question, I would prompt students with different questions like:
- Try and pick up a Pin with the Clawbot. Is the problem with grabbing the Pin or lifting it?
- Why do you think it cant __________? What part of the robot do you think needs modified?
- etc.
This way you can help them get to an answer or a place to start without inadvertently violating any of the student-centered policy elements.
