With the release of the VEX AIR Drone rapidly approaching, I wanted to make everyone aware you can now preview the three upcoming courses for teaching with AIR in your classroom! Visit the VEX AIR category on education.vex.com. Select ‘View Course’ at the bottom of each tile for an overview of the content that will be explored in each course.
The courses begin with Virtual Flight, which will introduce students to the basics of flying a drone using a safe, simulated environment.
Controller Flight will build on the understanding developed through their virtual drone experience to incorporate flying with the Controller. Students will learn to pilot the drone gradually, starting with the basics and then adding more complex movements. They will learn to use Mission Modules to lift, carry and deliver cargo and learn to pilot the drone using multiple cameras as they build up to a hands-on capstone challenge.
Coding Flight immerses students in autonomously coding the drone using VEXcode AIR. Students will learn how to use sensors, telemetry data and AI Vision to complete missions that mirror real-world applications.
