123 Coder Batteries

I bought a new set of AAA rechargeable batteries for my coders. The batteries are fully charged, but when I put them in a coder, the coder shows up as either yellow or red in the Classroom app (depending on the coder). I’ve had a lot of trouble getting batteries to last more than 2 weeks in my coders, anyway. Some of them go red really quickly. Anyone have any ideas or suggestions?

Hi @Brian_Bufkin and welcome to the community! This is a great question

I would recommend standard alkaline batteries or lithium batteries. The rechargeable batteries only charge to 1.2 volts where normal alkaline batteries are 1.5 volts. The Coder alerts for a low battery around 2.5 volts, so the rechargeable batteries will never go above that voltage (as two batteries at 1.2 volts is only a total of 2.4 volts).

I also believe that some brands now offer 1.5 volt rechargeable batteries, those could also work. Let me know if this helps
