Just wanted to let you know that V5, EXP, and IQ STEM Labs now have improved alt tags for all images. Alt tags (alternative text) are crucial for web accessibility, particularly for individuals with visual impairments who rely on screen readers to navigate the internet. These tags provide a text-based description of images, allowing screen readers to convey the content of the images to users who cannot see them.
For example, the alt tag for the image below (from the EXP Up and Over STEM Lab) would read, “Top down view of the Up and Over Competition setup with the Clawbot at the top of the image. Six Buckyballs are placed on the back lines to the right side of the Field, in a triangle shape.”
This effort is part of a larger push to improve the accessibility of our STEM Labs and of VEXcode. Alt tag updates for 123 and GO STEM Labs are also in the works and will be published soon. See this Insights article for more information about accessibility updates in recently released VEXcode 4.0!
