Build the new EXP CatapultBot

Have you seen the new EXP CatapultBot on builds.vex.com? This robot is designed with an intake and catapult mechanism in order to launch Buckyballs.

The build instructions walk you through how to build this step-by-step. Let me know what you think!

Holy moley! I am going to build that this week! I will post pictures… maybe a video.

Im wondering if the kids can use that on the pitching in field! I will definitely have the kids build it, i just need a good lesson to attach it to. Looks like fun!

@Omar_Cortez that’s a great idea! I think they for sure can use it on the Pitching In Field. We’ll also use this build in Bucky Basketball (which is coming soon). Very similar concepts to Pitching In!

Overall, very fun build! Thank you. I will most likely have my HS students build this bot.

Awesome Mark thanks for sharing! Looks like it turned out great!

I also like the fact that it’s easy to see upgrade opportunities for the build. I already added a couple of sensors and changed the basket a little bit. I can’t wait to see what my students experiment with.

Hello all!

I just wanted to update this thread with the information that the Bucky Basketball EXP STEM Lab is now live!

Within that STEM Lab’s Teacher Portal, there is a build video that students can follow along with to build the CatapultBot!

Do you plan on doing the Bucky Basketball STEM Lab with your students, or using the CatapultBot in another way? I can’t wait to hear!

The instructions to build don’t include a list of parts like the instructions for the Basebot and the Clawbot. Is it possible to list each part so I know if I’m missing any?

Hi @Brent_Wooten, and welcome to the community! I am gathering a list now for the part contents of the EXP CatapultBot and will have it for you shortly!

Attached is the list of parts required for building the EXP CatapultBot. You can use this in conjunction with the EXP Parts Poster in order to see images of each part to know if you’re missing any. Thanks.
