Building Instructions - Arm Designs - VEX EXP

Hello,

I use VEX EXP in my classrooms, and my students are finding it challenging to build some of the arm designs. The only build instructions I’ve found so far are for the 4-bar arm, which comes with the Clawbot design. I was wondering if you could provide the build instructions for the other three arms mentioned in the link below.

Thank you very much in advance.

Best regards,

This is a perfect opportunity to let your students explore solutions and apply design thinking. Instead of just following instructions, encourage them to sketch ideas and think critically. As a teacher, I’m passionate about creating environments where students can think for themselves. Watching them solve problems and come up with their own solutions is what excites me most.

By focusing on the process, not just the outcome, students have the chance to reflect on their thinking and adjust their strategies. This fosters creativity and critical thinking, building their confidence to take ownership of their learning and develop as independent, problem-solving thinkers.

If you ever need support, calling or emailing VEX is a great option. It’s not just an AI-generated system—they have live, helpful people who always answer the phone and are ready to assist.

Hi! We dont have specific build instructions, but I think you could use something from the previous Hero Robots as a place to start.

Hero Robots are what are provided for both IQ and V5 Competitions as a place for students to start. While the instructions are created for V5 Kits, you and your students could absolutely use some elements from the V5 Hero Robots to get started with other arm designs or ideas for how to start that construction process. Link to build instructions for V5 robots.

Lot’s of the designs use 4-bar arms, but something like the forks on Moby could be adapted to inspire and create a swing arm.
