Code Base 2.0!

Next time you visit builds.vex.com, you might notice something a little different about the GO Code Base builds. Based on your feedback, our engineers have worked hard to redesign the Code Base to improve its reliability when driving and turning. This three-wheeled design is quick to build and also allows for easier battery charging!

Give building it a GO (haha) and let us know how it GOes here in the Community! (Sorry, couldn’t resist!)

It works like a charm! I LOVE the real world engineering design process. :slightly_smiling_face:

I like the 2.0’s improved turning, but I find that my 3rd grade students have finger dexterity issues with the build and a lot of them have a hard time with the axel. I was wondering if I should introduce the 1.0 build start the start of the school year and then transition to the 2.0. Has anyone else tinkered around with this idea? If so, how did it go for your students?

Hi Jesse, I’m glad the 2.0’s improved turning has been working out for you. As for the issues that your students are having with the axel it may be best if your students were to set one half of the robot face up and have the axel be held in by gravity while they attach the other side. One more solution that may work would be have two students work together where one hold one side and the axel in place while the other attaches the other end of the robot. Let me know if either of these solutions work for you!

Hi Cedric, thank you for the reply and diagram. I can’t believe I didn’t think of having them do that. I sure this will work perfectly for them. Thank you!
