CTE Workcell tower turning red during code execution

I have a student coding the work cell and we are in Unit 4 in the 6 Axel Arm Course coding the maze. During code execution, the tower flashes red. It does this at random spots in the code. We tried the code on a 2nd workcell we have and it runs fine. Another student can connect to the workcell in question and it works fine. It’s somewhere in the laptop that this workcell is connected to. Help!

Oh no! We can absolutely help figure out what is going on. Since this seems like it might be an issue in the connection, @Jacob_Palnick or @Sardorbek_Omonkulov from our software team may be able to help.

Sorry to hear you’re experiencing this issue — it’s definitely an unusual one, especially since the same setup works with other arms and laptops.

On the laptop where the issue occurs, if possible, could you please reproduce the problem and submit feedback directly through VEXcode?

  • Be sure to check the box to include diagnostics and data
  • Add your email address and reference this forum post in the description

This will allow us to review the internal logs, which may help us pinpoint what’s going wrong.

In the meantime, please try the following steps that may help resolve the issue

  • Restart the Laptop.
    • Something that was cached might be causing the issue.
  • Make sure to also unplug all the cables from the arm, wait for 5 seconds, and then try again.
  • Follow this Troubleshooting Knowledge Base article: Troubleshooting the CTE 6-Axis Arm
    • Check the Arm with the Teach Pendant — Try jogging the arm to reach the positions used in the project. See if any errors occur during this manual movement.
    • Test the Joints if Errors Persist – Switch to Manual Mode and check if the joint values are updating and tracking correctly as you move the arm.

Let us know how it goes or if the issue continues, we’re happy to keep digging into it with you.
