After completing “Loop, There It Is” , I have the students complete a dance party activity where they have to create a dance that meets certain criteria and have all the robots dance to a set song. Sometimes, they even decorate their robots beforehand (Like a KISS face for example, lol). Here is the pseudocode sheet I use. Have fun with it. 8_3_23 Dance Party Project.docx - Google Docs
That sounds like a great time! I used to use mini dance parties as ‘Brain Breaks’ in my classroom all the time - this could also be a good community builder type open-ended exercise at the start of the year.
And I could see this being a fun extension even for younger students - smells like an indoor recess idea to me @Danielle_McCoy and @Tina_Dietrich and @Desiree_White-Price! Code your robot to dance, and then you have to do the dance alongside your robot (to keep kids moving at recess time too).
@LORI_COLANGELO We plan on doing Loop, There It Is near the end of the year (December), and our 6th graders using IQ will be having a New Year’s Eve Dance Party. Maybe we can even find a disco ball! @Desiree_White-Price @Danielle_McCoy
I had my kids decorate their robots once and they picked what song they wanted to dance to, I had KISS!, lol Lots of fun. The could even have a Halloween Dance party and come in costume.
