My High School team is building DEX using the competition super kit. They are looking for 2.75” traction anti-static wheels. The only wheels that came in the kit are 4” wheels. They found 2.75” balloon tire wheels in the EXP classroom kit. Are these able to be used?
Hi Tina,
The 2.75” balloon tire wheels found in the EXP Classroom kit would work and be a good replacement for the 2.75” traction anti-static wheels if you have some avalible. The 2.75” traction anti-static wheels are also avalible for purchase on the VEX store, I’ll attach it to this link.
Thanks @Cedric_Lowery @AlainaHaws Would these wheels be competition legal? Thanks
Unfortunately these are not competition legal (here is the related QA I found about this).
I think I would recommend keeping moving forward with the smaller wheels (as long as you have some time before competition). You can have students keep working forward knowing they will need to change these wheels to the 4” wheels from the Super Kit before their first competition. This would give them the opportunity to finish the build, see how the wheels are used in practice and then how they connect to the other elements for the intake, then apply that knowledge forward. Also would be a good way to structure their first iteration on the build!
