Hello! I wanted to share some resources we have to aid y’all in the VEX IQ Robotics Competition. Tackling the building, modifying, coding, and driving aspects of “Byte” might seem daunting if you’re new to the competition, but we’ve got your back!
In the Full Volume STEM Lab found at education.vex.com, you’ll discover a wealth of videos and guides that will demystify these tasks, setting you up for success this competition season.
Here you will find me sharing Tips and Tricks for Building Byte which are mainly focused on the usage of the IQ Parts Ruler, the IQ Competition Parts Poster, along with other essential tidbits. As you dive into the world of Byte, these resources will be instrumental.
Furthermore, on that same page, @Alaina_Haws offers indispensable details on configuring and understanding the Controller buttons and their corresponding functions on Byte.
Lastly, continuing through the lab you will find walkthroughs on coding Byte in Lesson 3. These are excellent starting points, teaching you how to utilize the pre-configured template and commence coding tailored to this year’s game challenges.
The Full Volume STEM Lab is a great introduction to Byte as well as this year’s game. However, we also offer additional STEM Labs and resources for those using other builds, such as the Clawbot, especially if you don’t have the IQ 2nd gen Competition Kit and are relying on the Education Kit. Remember, the Clawbot can be used in competition. Explore the Up and Over STEM Lab which focuses on the Clawbot guiding you through its building, coding, and driving which all can be applied to Full Volume game.
You might wonder about modifying these builds. That’s the beauty of our approach: by engaging with these hands-on labs, you’re prompted to initiate modifications organically. Whether it’s changing the wheels or overhauling the drivetrain, understanding the nuances via hands-on experience is far superior to mere contemplation.
Lastly, always remember: We’re here for you. If there’s anything specific you’d like to see or have queries about, don’t hesitate to reach out. Happy competing!
