Friendly Competition

Today we were practicing reading the names of the number. I used a random number generator to pop up a number between 1-9. Once the number popped up, students had to code to the word. I wanted to share this to show all of the excitement the students were displaying. They were cheering on their teams, this activity turned into a mini competition. The students were trying so hard to code their robots really fast. I just want to show everyone that a simple lesson takes on some much engagement. If anyone has any other mini competitions send them my way. @Audra_Selkowitz @Tina_Dietrich

That’s fantastic @Desiree_White-Price! I have definitely found that some of the most unexpected lesson moments over the years were the most impactful. Now that you know how excited your kids get about the competition angle, you can totally leverage that for other lessons as well!

I could see you doing a sort of relay race like this too - where every team starts with the same word/number, but then after the first one, there’s a second word/number for the next group on the team, etc. Can build up some more of the collaborative component as each group helps the next as part of the larger team.
