Hello everyone! I was recently speaking with someone on a 1-1 Session and they were telling me how they have a VIQRC team of 5th graders that have never built anything before.
Since Byte is a more complex build, it got me thinking that the Clawbot is a great first build that can even be used in a competition. I know the goal for many first time teams is to just build a robot and then take it to competition to learn from the expereince.
If this is the case, there are great resources for building the Clawbot. Not only are there build instructions, but we also have build videos that students can follow along with.
Note that the Clawbot is built in two parts, first the BaseBot and then the arm and claw addition, making the full Clawbot. This build experience is great for new builders.
Another item to note, is that students can still participate in the Full Volume STEM Lab with the modification of using the Clawbot instead of Byte.
What robot is your team starting out with? Are they starting from build instructions and then modifying or are they designing a robot from scratch?
