Implementing Classroom Competitions with VEX EXP - VEX Robotics Educators Conference Workshop 2026

Hi everyone! Thank you to those that attended my Implementing Classroom Competitions with VEX EXP workshop at the 2026 VEX Robotics Educators Conference last week! I mentioned during the workshop that I would post a PDF of my slides once the conference was over. Here is the file:

Shout out to @Aimee_DeFoe for creating the “Custom Competition Recipe” on Slide 7!

During the workshop, I shared how I modified the Defend the Castle EXP activity to be used as a classroom competition. Here is the original activity document as well as the one that I copied and then modified:

I also asked participants during the workshop to choose one of the three activities to modify themselves:

What people came up with was amazing!

Towards the end of the workshop, I reminded everyone that there are pre-existing resources that can be used as is or modified for classroom competitions. These include EXP STEM Labs that follow the Learn, Practice, Compete structure. More information about this structure can be found in this article.

There are also more EXP activities that exist in addition to the few that I introduced during the workshop. More EXP activities can be found here.
