Intro to Python Coding in VEXcode VR - VEX Robotics Educators Conference 2026

Hi everyone!

It was wonderful seeing both familiar and new faces in St. Louis this year at the 2026 VEX Educators Conference. Thank you to everyone who joined our Python Coding in VEXcode VR workshop!

This session focused on ways to make introducing Python in the classroom feel more approachable. VEXcode VR is a great place to start because students can quickly test and iterate code in the virtual playground, while using familiar VEXcode tools and the predefined Python toolbox list of commands.

During the workshop, we explored how to create a new Python text project in VEXcode VR, use the Python Toolbox, drag and drop commands into the workspace, and take advantage of editor features like autocomplete. We also worked through the Castle Crasher+ activity, where participants coded the VR Robot to knock over buildings, test strategies, and refine their programs.

If you’re interested in building your own Python coding challenge, or want to revisit the activity from the workshop, use the PDF from the session below as a resource.

Thank you again to everyone who attended! I loved getting to learn, code, and problem-solve with you.
