I was very happy to see this morning that Katalin Kariko has been awarded the Nobel Prize for science. I first learned of her story while researching for my own book. Her story is one of intelligence, perseverance and courage- and it is one that we should be sharing with all of young girls in STEM. I wrote a twitter thread capturing my thoughts:
Here is more info on her winning the prize: https://www.quantamagazine.org/covid-19-mrna-vaccines-win-nobel-prize-for-medicine-2023-20231002/?mc_cid=4907ece378&mc_eid=4387e5d563

Thank you for sharing! How inspirational!
I was curious how many men vs women win the Nobel Prize and can share some information here from The Nobel Prize website:
The Nobel Prize and the Sveriges Riksbank Prize in Economic Sciences in Memory of Alfred Nobel have so far been awarded to women 62 times between 1901 and 2023. Only one woman, Marie Curie, has been honoured twice, with the Nobel Prize in Physics 1903 and the Nobel Prize in Chemistry 1911. This means that 61 women in total have been awarded the Nobel Prize so far between 1901 and 2023.
We have 61 inspirational Nobel Prize stories to inspire female students right now.
