New IQ Build! Basebot + Pen Holder!

I have a really fun new IQ build to share - the IQ Basebot + Pen Holder!

This new build is available in the IQ section of builds.vex.com, and makes it easy to attach a pen to your robot. Adding a pen to your robot can help your students visualize math concepts such as angles and shapes, the coordinate grid, patterning and more. It also opens the door to adding art to coding projects, such as creating mandalas or tesselations.

Give it a try, and share your students robot-created drawings with us here!

This is a great idea. However, I do not see that the Linear Motion parts are included in the 2nd Gen Classroom Kits. Do you have a build that does not use the Comp. Kits?

Another question. Do you allow access to .STL files?

Hi Andy, There is currently no IQ Basebot + Pen Holder build using the 2nd Gen Classroom Kit but I made a build replacing the Linear Motion parts for the build with two Double 2x Wide, 2x2 Double Offset Corner Connector and using zip ties to hold the pen/pencil instead. I’ve attached pictures of the modified build at the bottom of this message, however this version of the build will not be able to raise/lower the pen/pencil.

As for the STL files, if it’s for the parts used in this build most of the individual .STL file for the parts used for the build can be found in the vex store under CAD section for the part, however the .STL for the whole build will not be avalible. Let me know if this solution works for you!

Hi @Andy_McClure Just to add to what @Cedric_Lowery said, you can get the Linear Motion Kit separately: Linear Motion Pack - VEX Robotics

It is currently out of stock, but should be back in stock within the next two weeks.

Thanks,
