New to the V5 Workcell and Back to School Prep

Hello all! It’s that time of year again, getting ready for back to school!

Are you new to the V5 Workcell? Maybe you’re just getting ready for another year teaching it? In either case, you can prepare with the VEX V5 Workcell Educator Certification Course! Here is a summary of the course.

Something that I’ve always explained to teachers when I do Workcell trainings, is that this certification walks you through all of the V5 Workcell STEM Labs, both what the students will actually do (how they are engaging in each activity) as well as how each STEM Lab should be facilitated (from a teacher point of view).

There is also relative VEX Library articles and additional videos from the PD+ Video Library linked throughout the pages to help as you engage with these new concepts.

There are 15 Chapters in this course, but that doesn’t mean that you have to complete all 15 chapters before beginning to teach with the Workcell! Since each Chapter aligns with a Workcell STEM Lab, you can focus on completing one Chapter at time as you teach that Lab with your students.

Not sure how to plan for pacing the V5 Workcell STEM Labs? We know that every classroom is different, but a great starting point is to check out the V5 Workcell Cumulative Pacing Guide! This pacing guide covers STEM Labs and Extensions for 45, 36, and 18 weeks.

We also know that learning never stops and effective professional development is continuous. Have questions as you’re teaching with the V5 Workcell? Want to share a particular lesson that went well? Or maybe a lesson that didn’t go as planned and you want feedback on how to improve it for another class or even next semester? Post in the community!

You can also book a 1-on-1 Session with a VEX Expert to discuss specific concepts or questions. To learn more about 1-on-1 Sessions, view this article from the VEX Library.

I can’t wait to hear how you’re implementing the V5 Workcell in your educational setting this upcoming year!

These are all great tips, Lauren! I just wanted to add another here that can come in handy especially while your students are building the Workcell. After checking out the Certification Training Course and diving into the STEM Labs, I would have this article at the ready → Frequently Asked Questions about the CTE Workcell

This article covers many of the common questions that we see from educators and students all over. It’s set up in a really simple Problem → Solution format to help guide you to the information you need. At the top of the article, you’ll also see the FAQ in a video version!

If you’ve tried the solutions in the video and still have issues, post something here in the Community or book a 1-on-1 Session as Lauren mentioned! Then you can get in contact with a VEX Expert to help troubleshoot your issues.
