I am new to Vex and finished the intro course, there are a lot of information I found it will take time to get familiar with them. I am looking to teach a beginner class for my boy and his friend during the coming holiday, something foundational and fun, I don’t know how to build a training class yet and I hope to find a basic end to end building class where I can follow and introduce some fun to my boy. Please advice if there is some foundation video library where I can get start with, ideally something I can just follow along for teaching.
Hi @Patrick_Lam! Welcome to the Community! I have a few ideas of Activities that you, your son, and his friend can use to help you get started with VEX IQ -
To start with some basic building activities - The Space Adventure Activity Series is a great place to begin. Each of the activities in this series will let your son and his friend explore some free building with VEX IQ to create different structures within a theme. The activities build on each other, so should be completed in order.
- Activity Series begin with some “Teacher Notes” that you can use to help set the stage for each task, and have some background info that might be helpful for you.
To explore building in a simpler way, you can also use individual activities like Get in Shape, Hang Out, or Tallest Tower.
Build and drive your first robot - Once your all comfortable building with VEX IQ pieces, use build instructions and try out Activities like:
My other thought for getting started is to check out camps.vex.com. The VEX IQ Robot Games At Home Camp offers video-based sessions that you can use to help you facilitate an fun introduction to IQ. You can watch the videos together and follow along, or watch them ahead of time and lead your kids in sessions yourself.
I hope this gives you an idea of places to start! Feel free to check out any of the other Activities as well to help you build out your introductory sessions
I look forward to hearing about how it goes!
