Hi Everyone,
I’m happy to announce we have published the first chapter of a new VEX Masterclass - Making the most of Teaching with VEXcode VR! Chapter 1 consists of three video lessons and focuses on increasing student engagement in Computer Science, as well as how VR solves the issue of online privacy for students as they are learning.
Two more chapters will be published soon, providing easily actionable ideas for using worked examples to teach coding, teaching debugging, differentiating instruction and providing feedback, as well as tackling the blocks to text transition with your CS learners!
I’ve linked the course summary here for you to take a look at.
This course is a great next step after completing the Computer Science 1 Blocks or Python Course. If you take the course, let us know your thoughts!

Hello everyone!
Just an update that Chapters 2 and 3 of the Making the most of Teaching with VEXcode VR course are now live
Chapter 2 – Making Teaching CS Easier
This Chapter offers insights into ways that VEXcode VR can be used to make your teaching practice easier and more impactful. You will learn about ways to use example projects to help students learn to read code and think about it conceptually. You will see ways to provide meaningful differentiation and feedback to students about their learning, including customizing VR Playgrounds and challenges for differing abilities, and ways to give feedback about student learning as they are coding. The Chapter concludes with information about the tools available with a VEXcode VR subscription that make organization of student work simple.
Chapter 3 – Solving the Blocks to Text Transition Problem
This Chapter focuses on the ways in which students can learn computer science within VEXcode VR, and how they work together to support and scaffold student learning over time. You’ll first learn about the benefits of using block based coding as an entry point to CS. Then you will learn about Switch, and how it enables students to gradually transition from block based to text based coding at their own pace. You’ll see how Switch blocks are used in the context of VEXcode VR projects to allow students to incorporate Python commands within the familiar logic of a Blocks project. Finally, you will see how teaching Python is made easy with VEXcode VR.
I can’t wait to hear once you’ve taken this course!
