The latest Insights article, published yesterday, highlights this latest certification and what it means. CAST, a non-profit organization specializing in accessibility and education, has officially certified PD+ as earning their UDL Product Certification. This means that PD+ not only meets their web-accessibility benchmarks, but also that the curricular components of PD+ are aligned with UDL guidelines and support all learners. Check out this article to learn more about CAST, and the certification itself.
As mentioned in the article, working towards this certification gave us an opportunity to think about how we are presenting content, so we can do so in a way that benefits all learners. The article mentions a sampling of things to look for, using the VEX 123 Educator Certification Intro Course as an example.
In that course, you’ll see things like “UDL Moves” callouts that highlight specific UDL guidelines to give educators a window into their own learning in relation to UDL, to hopefully open the door to thinking about teaching with UDL practices.
We are continuing to work towards incorporating UDL guidelines and practices in other courses and PD+ content, so keep an eye out for those as you’re working.
Have you incorporated UDL guidelines into your own teaching practices? Please share!
