In this workshop, we learned about how VEX AIM allows us to teach about responsible AI in a safe way as we practiced using AI Vision to accomplish tasks in different ways, and explored AI Vision and factors that affect it. Then we used what we learned to help debunk some common misconceptions about teaching about AI.
This is one of my favorite workshops to do, because explorations like finding the field of view of the sensor and trying to “trick the sensor” are great examples of how hands-on learning can make abstract concepts visible and tangible. All of the activities in this workshop came from the VEX AIM Intro Course and can easily be shared with students.
