Robotics for Career & Technical Education - VEX Robotics Educators Conference Workshop 2026

This year’s conference was such an energizing experience! One of the things I enjoyed most was seeing educators who were new to VEX CTE enjoy hands-on experiences and share enthusiasm at what they were able to accomplish with the 6-Axis Robotic Arm. Seeing abstract concepts, like moving within the Cartesian coordinate system, come to life for people for the first time will never not be exciting for me!

All of the activities we did within the workshop came from tasks that students complete within the Intoduction to the 6-Axis Arm CTE Course.

Attached is a PDF of the slides shown during the workshop, in case it is helpful for those who were in the workshop to revisit them as you explore bringing CTE to your students.

At one point during the workshop, I was talking with a group of educators who spanned a wide range of ages and subject areas - and they could all see places where they wanted to incorporate the 6-Axis Arm into their classes. From middle school math to part of a CTE trajectory, to a component within a survey-style high school course, they were excited about the potential the 6-Axis Arm offered, and it was inspiring!

Were you in any CTE workshops at the conference? Do you use the CTE Workcell with your students? I’d love to hear more about your reflections or stories of teaching with CTE!
