Safety First - Propeller Lock on VEX AIR

Flight safety is very important when using drones with students. To support student learning and safety, the VEX AIR Drone is equipped with a Propeller Lock feature - to help ensure that the drone does not take flight until everyone around is ready. It is important to know that one student’s actions cannot activate a drone’s propellers while another student is handling that drone.

If the drone detects that is has been moved, or that it is not on a flat, level surface, the Propeller Lock will engage. With the Propeller Lock on, the propellers cannot turn and a project cannot be started. You’ll see a blinking blue light indicating that the Propeller Lock is on. Here’s a little video to show it in action:

To deactivate the Propeller Lock, make sure the drone is placed in a safe, level takeoff area, then press the blinking blue LED Power Button on the drone. Once it is turned off, the drone can fly!
