What activities do you do with your teams between their last tournament and the new game reveal?
Great question. @David_Kelly any ideas?
Here are a few ideas to do with your team between your last competition and the game release:
- Search for after season competitions to participate in.
- Hold mini challenges for the students to meet.
- Who can build the fastest robot?
- Who can < fill in the blank> the best with this year’s game pieces?
- Design a soccer game and play with the robots.
- Program the robots with a bumper switch to be able to play freeze tag. press the button once freezes the robot, press again unfreezes the robot. - great logic test.
- Design an obstacle course and then see who can drive their robot through the course the fastest.
- Look at VEX GO and VEX 123 STEM Lab activities and see if there is any which can be modified for your platform.
- Bah humbug! break down this year’s robot and organize parts.
- Plan a viewing party (virtual??) for the World championship matches.
- Review the results of the online challenge and have students provide suggestions of what they would have done to solve the challenge. Try to generate some interest among the students to participate in next year’s online challenges.
- Have a discussion and make plans for the branding of your team next year, team shirts, team name, do you want to have a theme?and review other team’s branding to get ideas.
- Plan a viewing party (virtual??) for next year’s game release
Great stuff @David_Kelly Thank you for sharing
Thanks for the suggestions, David!
@Lauren_Harter We should look at implementing some of these ideas for our VRC team
Hi @LORI_COLANGELO -
REC Foundation recently had a Tuesday Tech Talk on end-of-year celebrations and post-season activities. You can see it here, in their YouTube channel.
