The Cartesian Coordinate System and the V5 Workcell Video

Hello everyone! With school back in session, I wanted to highlight a video that we have in the Video Library!

I know I’ve discussed teaching the Cartesian Coordinate System with the V5 Workcell before, you can see that information here in this Community Post.

However, I wanted to highlight a video that we have in our Video Library that shows you how to do this in action! In this video, I highlight tips and tricks for teaching or reinforcing the Cartesian Coordinate system using the V5 Workcell. Understanding how points are represented in space is not only important for coding the Workcell, but also an important skill in many areas of mathematics such as algebra, geometry, calculus, and more.

I know abstract mathematical concepts can be difficult for students, but using activities like help make them more concrete! How do you plan on using the ideas in this video with your students?

This is one of my favorite applications of the Workcell! Understanding the X, Y, and Z is something that is so hard to teach on paper with a worksheet. Using something like the robotic arm really gives the students something tangible to work with.

Cant wait to hear how people are using it in their classroom!
