Using Cortex materials with V5

Had a quick chat about using some Cortex components with V5, with a long-time Cortex user who has been transitioning to V5 since last year. Specifically, he was talking about a project he has his students do where they construct a working elevator, that can stop on floors automatically. He had been using the Flashlight to do this before, and was trying to figure out how to complete the same project with a V5 Brain with the Flashlight and Light Sensor and Motor Controllers. I learned something about how all of this works too, thanks to @Jacob_Palnick

Here’s what he shared about the Flashlight:

“The flashlight is only really intended to be connected and left on. It is technically possible to use the motor controller 29 to control the flashlight. In that case, you can configure a motor controller (motor393 in VEXcode) then connect the flashlight to the controller. In this case the flashlight will be off when the motor is set to 0%. it will turn on at either -100% or +100%. Since the flashlight is polarity sensitive, it will be one direction or the other, depending on how it is connected. (It will only be one based on how it is connected to the controller.)”

Looking forward to learning more about what Bill and his students get up to this year!
