VEX 123 Costume Contest

Our students are having so much fun in the library this week creating costumes for their VEX 123 robots! Thank you for creating the costume contest and giving them an audience for their creations! I have been blown away by the creative things they make with simple crafting materials and the art ring.

If you are looking for something to do with all of your empty VEX boxes, check out this Haunted Library we made using screws and tools from makedo, a company down in AUS :australia: that has created kid-safe cardboard cutting tools!

We turned the Costume Contest into a Halloween Dance Party!

How fun! I bet @Audra_Selkowitz has some great ideas for 123 Costumes as well.

I love how the dance party in the haunted library brings it all together.

This is AMAZING!!! I love everything about it! Robot Costume Contests are a fabulous way to unleash some student creativity - not just in the costume itself, but in how they code the robot to move and ‘act out’ their creation.

Also that “Haunted Library” is so cool @James_Nesbitt! It also makes me think of using GO or IQ components to make motion activated ghosts or other haunted surprises in the library. You could hook up an LED Bumper to glow colors when pressed, or use an Eye Sensor or Distance Sensor to make a motorized ghost move when an object was detected.

@Desiree_White-Price and @Danielle_McCoy I could see this being a hit with your kids too!

I love the costume contest. Our kiddos love doing dance parties with their robots so it’s a great wat to combine both ideas!
