The Vex IQ Controller kept blinking red, leading us to the message " Firmware Update Mode"…but It didn’t prompt me

After you hit OK on this window, you should be able to go back to the top of the screen and select the Controller Icon. That will open the Connection Window this screen is talking about.
Controller Icon:
Then you will select the Recover button here!
Then you should have a series of steps appear to help you update
