One of our robots is moving in a crooked and curvy manner. I have cleaned the bot (top/bottom/sides), cleaned the vex tile, restarted the robot, updated the robot, however it still moves in a curvy manner. Students stated they did not drop it (??hmmmm). Any suggestions?
Hi Genie_Merrer,
Could you post of a video of the robot moving so we can see what is happening?
Hi @Genie_Merrer do you have a video you can share?
Here is a video from my phone. When first turning on and doing a few runs, it was fine. But after the 3rd run, it started going crooked again.
having issues uploading my video. It has to be a certain format.
I have changed the compatability mode on my camera to do jpeg and it didn’t change the format. Once again, after being off for a few minutes, it started off going straight, but after 4th attempt the crookedness began to appear. I have emailed a video to Nicole, not sure if she can open it.
Thanks - I’ll follow up with Nicole.
Another attempt at a video from my computer.
Hi @Genie_Merrer,
Have you removed the bottom cover to see if anything is trapped around the wheel, gear or axle? These can be removed for cleaning:
Hi @Chris_Calver,
Piggybacking onto this as I’m having the same issue with a 123 bot. I’m attaching a video where you can see the gear on the left (if the video loads correctly) does not spin. I programmed it to move 2 forward. I have reset the bot, cleaned out the tires and gears. I did notice a little dust ball come out, but the problem persists.
Hi @Mike_Bothwell. My suggestion would be to contact VEX Support on this one unless @Levi_Pope has anything to add.
Hi there,
Usually the hair, and dust particles stacking near the motors axle or gears create extra friction and the robot leans to one side. I would reccomend checking that part, and making regular cleaning with a tweezer. ( Just like we used to do with the mouse with the balls inside - and yes I am old.
hope this helps
Kind regards.
Mert
