Today my students learned all about elections, voting and making choices while practicing reading, writing, social skills, mathematics and robotics.
After viewing an interactive PowerPoint, the students went back to their tables with their ballots and voted anonymously for which Paw Patrol pup they’d like to represent as our classroom “President.”
We tallied the votes, compared numbers and discussed which pup came out on top!
Afterwards, the students used their VEX 123 robots to code to the Pup that won!

What a great connection @Danielle_McCoy ! I love this! You could also set it up to create a bit of a ‘bar graph’ - start with the robots lined up on the Field (one robot for each voting choice). Here I made a quick one to choose your favorite season (winter, spring, or summer). Each student pressed the Move button once to ‘cast their vote’. Then you start the projects and watch as the robots show the ‘votes’ in a line.
Here’s a quick video to help you picture what I’m thinking (I was tight on space, I’d recommend spreading out each row so the robots don’t collide).
You could attach ribbon or crepe paper to each of the robots, so they literally make a bar graph as they drive forward!
